Congratulations to the ten Big Summer Golf Card holders who qualified for this year’s Hole-In-One contest! To gain their entry these BSGC golfers had to have made a hole-in-one at a Big Summer Golf Card participating course this summer. Ten BSGC holders did, and they were all able to be present for the contest, held on Hole #11 at University Park Country Club on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Two contests were held; the first was a Hole-In-One attempt, one shot only per player and a prize of $50,000 ($25,000 to the Hole-In-One player and $25,000 shared between American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars).  Even though the contestants had all had Holes-In-One this summer the tension was evident and no-one was able to ace the hole.

The second contest was a “Closest to the Pin” with the distance being 155 yards. The three closest players would each receive a prize and you could tell the golfers were more relaxed after the Hole-In-One attempt. Donald Beaver of Sarasota came in a good first at just over  19 feet to the pin to take the $500 first prize; Joe Goedkoop of Port Charlotte took 2nd and $300 and Tim Hartshorn of Placida took 3rd and $200.

Congratulations to all the contestants on their summer holes-in-one and their spirited participation in the BSGC Hole-In-One contest. We look forward to another contest in 2020. The 2019 qualifiers were:

Gary Petersen of Lakewood Ranch, Peter Colberg of Venice, Karl Edlbauer of Orlando, Joe Goedkoop of Port Charlotte, Bill LeFrancois of Sarasota, Christine Tardie of Punta Gorda, Donald Beaver of Sarasota, Robert Schell of North Port, William Ramsay of Venice & Tim Hartshorn of Placida.
