Keep Your Head Still!

While it may seem very simple, keeping your head still is a tricky but effective way to create consistency in your swing. As they say, everything starts at the top! If your head moves left, right, up, or down too much, it can be detrimental to your swing. One simple drill can help you create more head stability without having to video record your swing.

This drill is called the “Keep Your Head Still” trick, coined by one of golf’s great, Ben Hogan. All you need is one golf tee, place it in your mouth and point it at the golf ball before you make a swing. You then try to keep it pointed at the ball through contact. This method gives you an idea of how much your head turns or drops in your swing. Work on this until you can keep the tee pointed directly at the golf ball throughout the backswing and through contact.
