Placid Lakes Country Club

Placid Lakes Country Club, which opened in 1966, underwent a complete renovation after the hurricanes of 2004 left much of the course under water. It is a challenging layout with several unique holes and possibly the most difficult stretch of finishing holes in Highlands County.

The course plays 6911 yards from the tips, and slopes at 128 with a course rating of 73.7. Golfers share the course with a wide variety of wildlife, including a resident gator named Otis, who occupies a small island to the left of No. 8. Course owner Jeffrey Harstine has enjoyed a storied career in the golf construction business, having built such highly ranked layouts as Black Diamond and The Legacy Club at Alaqua Lakes.
