Sarasota Featured Golf Courses: New Updates

We hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy during these uncertain times due to the COVID-19 virus. We do not know when this will end, but golf courses are providing a safe haven for us who enjoy playing the game. We have compiled a list of featured courses in the Sarasota area that are still open, or are open to members only, or all operations at the course are closed until further notice and what health and safety precautions they are taking for both players and employees.

  • Bent Tree Golf Club in Sarasota
    • Normal operating hours: 6:30 a.m. – dusk
    • Credit/debit cards are preferred for transactions, so as to limit the interaction during payment, but cash transactions are still allowed, the employees will be wearing gloves.
    • Players are allowed to prepay for their rounds over the phone if they would like to do so.
    • Only 4 people will be allowed at a time in the golf shop at a time, and this also includes employees.
    • Bag stands and benches have been taken away from the practice areas
    • 1 person, 1 cart rule, no exceptions.
    • All players will load their own clubs into the carts and back into their cars as well.
    • Bag drop and club cleaning services is not being offered at this time
    • Rakes have been taken off the course and the bunkers will be raked every morning and sand bottles have been taken away as well.
    • The starters will follow the 6-foot distance rule from all groups when on the 1st tee.
    • Avoid touching the flagstick.
    • Cups and straws have been taken away, as well as all of the water stations and the ice/water machines have been discontinued. Guests are allowed to bring their own water bottles.
    • Groups are not allowed to assemble before or after rounds.
    • Food and beverage departments are closed until further notice
  • Boca Royale Golf and Country Club in Englewood
    • Normal operating hours: 6 a.m. – 7 p.m.
    • Restaurant
      • Take-out and deliveries only in the community
      • Open Mon.-Sat.: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
      • Dinner is available Wed. – Fri.: 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
      • Brunch is on Sunday during the season from: 10:00 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto
    • Normal operating hours: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.

      • They ask that all customers use credit/debit cards to pay instead of using cash. Please use the PAX devices and put the card in directly and they will be cleaned after each use.
      • They will follow every precaution to keep everything as sanitary as possible.
      • 1 person, 1 cart rule, no exceptions.

  • Heritage Harbour Golf & Country Club in Bradenton
    • Pro shop open from 7 a.m. -5:30 p.m**.
    • CDC guidelines are in place and extra health precautions such as:
      • All rakes have been removed.
      • Avoid flagsticks.
      • Golf carts will be disinfected before and after every use.
      • Carts will be placed in an “open space” arrangement.
      • Orange foam has been placed in the cup
      • The Eatery is now open for seating with new hours and a new summer menu. To-go is still available that includes: pre-made sandwiches, snacks, drinks (including alcoholic beverages)**
  • IMG Academy Golf Club in Bradenton
    • Operating hours: 7 a.m. – 5:45 p.m.
    • A face covering/mask must be worn when arriving on property and when inside the clubhouse
      • They do not have to be worn outside when dining, unless you leave your table and when golfing, unless coming near another group.
    • They are strictly enforcing social distancing practices.
    • 1 person, 1 cart rule and they are encouraging individuals to walk as well.
    • They are using hospital-grade cleaning products to thoroughly clean their clubhouse.
    • The Grille Room is now open with limited hours and reservations are recommended to ensure all patrons are following social distancing and seating capacity guidelines**.
      • Lunch on Tues., Wed., Fri., & Sat. from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.
      • Dinner on Fri. from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
      • Take-out is still available for lunch hours and for dinner on Fridays with some family dinner take-out options to pick-up by 4 p.m. from Mon.-Fri.
      • 50% capacity for seating and keeping 6 feet for separating parties
      • No more than 10 people to a party
      • Staff will be screened prior before starting their shift and will be wearing face masks
      • Laminated menus will be cleaned after every use.
    • They are increasing the frequency of cleaning high touch areas like countertops, door handles, restrooms, etc.
    • They are examining all staff members before each shift to decrease exposure of this illness.
    • All events with 50 people or more have been cancelled.
    • Their fitness center is now open with new protocols to follow and are posted in the Fitness Room**.
      • Hours: 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.from Mon.-Sat.
    • Golf course
      • The steering wheels and cup holders are disinfected after every use.
      • Personal golf carts can still be used.
      • They are encouraging golfers to walk, which has been previously for members only.
      • The rakes have been taken off the course and bunkers are raked everyday by grounds crew
      • Cups turned upside down to block ball from going in cup.
      • Avoid touching flagstick.
      • Divot boxes have been removed from par-3 holes.
      • Disinfecting/cleaning of bathrooms on course are being cleaned more often.
    • CDC recommended measures:
      • Wash hands for at least 20 seconds
      • Use alcohol-based sanitizer
      • Keep away from those who are sick
      • Disinfect household objects and surfaces in homes
  • Legacy Golf Club in Bradenton
    • Normal operating hours: 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.
    • Golf shop/Clubhouse
      • 6-foot spacing has been marked on the floor in pro shop.
      • All touch points on the counter and doors are disinfected every hour.
      • Other touch points, such as stair rails, in the club house is disinfected throughout the day more regularly.
      • Restrooms are cleaned more regularly as well and soap, hot water, and disposable paper towels will always be available.
      • Credit/debit card only. No cash allowed. Customers will not need to sign for transactions.
      • Phones and computers (keyboards included) are disinfected more regularly.
    • Restaurant
      • To-go only
      • There is 6-foot spacing on the floor in the take out area for customers.

      • If a player is able to, they are encouraging all to walk the course.

      • The employees are wearing gloves and are changing them regularly during the day.

      • They are wearing face masks during their shifts as an extra measure to ensure the safety for everyone.
      • If any employees are feeling sick, they will be asked to stay home and the club does have a paid sick leave policy in place.

    • All groups need to pay in one transaction, but card signatures will not be required during this time.
    • Players are allowed to prepay for their rounds over the phone if they would like to do so: (941) – 921 – 5258
    • Only 4 people will be allowed at a time in the golf shop at a time, and this also includes employees.

    • There are limited beverages being offered.
    • Restrooms and vending machines are being cleaned more frequently.
    • Groups are not allowed to assemble before or after rounds.
  • Moccasin Wallow Golf Club in Palmetto
    • Normal operating hours: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.
    • They are sanitizing and disinfecting everything.
    • Their operation is now outside and check in will be in front of golf shop, as well as their food and beverage.
    • The clubhouse is closed except for use of restrooms.
    • Players can purchase soft drinks at check in, but there are no water coolers on the course, offering $1 water bottles.
    • They will not offer each player their own cart, only a limited amount.
    • If a player wants their own cart, it is recommended they play later in the day, as they will become more available throughout the day.
  • Peridia Golf and Country Club in Bradenton
    • Modified hours:
      • Mon.: 11 a.m. -2pm
      • Tues. and Sat.: 11 a.m. -5 p.m.
      • Wed.-Fri.: 11 a.m. -8 p.m.
      • Sun.: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
    • All employees have been told the recommended procedures listed on the CDC website and posted in employee areas of the clubs.
    • All food handlers and servers are trained on proper hand washing and are wearing gloves when preparing food.
    • Employees showing any symptoms of being sick will be asked to go home and call in before their next shift.
    • The proper disinfecting methods for surfaces are always used in food prep areas.
    • The cleaning schedule of the club will be more frequently disinfected by extra members of the staff to include:
      • All areas of kitchen, including back-loading dock and walk-in coolers, and freezers
      • Dining room (POS stations, door handles, chairs, tables)
      • Bar area (bar top, stools, chairs, reach in coolers, glass washers, tables)
      • Bathrooms
      • Pro shop (golf carts, door handles, counter, tables, and chairs)
      • Hand sanitizer is now in all areas of the clubhouse, including entrances and exits
    • Effective on March 21st, the clubhouse will be closed until further notice. No entry allowed.

  • Rotonda Golf & Country Club in Rotonda West
    • Normal operating hours: 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.
    • Please leave the flagstick in the hole.
    • All rakes have been removed from course and they ask to play preferred lie in bunkers.
    •  Instead of the usual end of round handshake, do a club head tap.
    • The cups have been flipped, it raises the inside bottom of the hole so don’t have to put hand in to pick up ball.
    • The carts have been spread out when staging at clubhouse, limits distancing before going out on rounds.
    • Carts are disinfected between every round..
    • The Hills restaurant has their dining room open now and to-go service is still available**.
      • 6 days a week, lunch and dinner Mon-Sat. 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

  • Serenoa Golf Club in Sarasota
    • Normal operating hours: 6:30am-6pm
    • On the Course
      • Water carts have taken away. They would like guests to bring their own pre-filled water bottles.

      • They are inviting their players to walk their round, if possible

      • Golf carts will be meticulously disinfected after each use. This includes the all touch points, steering wheel, seat, bag strap, and side handles, with disinfecting wipes or spray
    • Restaurant
      • To-go service only.
      • The takeout area is marked with six foot spacing

      • They are encouraged to stay healthy, hydrated and well rested, and quickly report if they are not feeling well.
  • Tatum Ridge Golf Links in Sarasota (now open)
    • New summer hours: 6:30 a.m. -12 p.m. all week
    • Only 4 guests allowed in the pro shop at a time.
    • All employees are wearing gloves for safety precautions.
    • The flagstick must stay in the hole at all times.
    • The seats and steering wheels on all golf carts will be disinfected.
    • Cups, lids, and straws have been taken away. The water stations will not have coolers and guests should bring their own pre-filled water bottles.
    • Golf carts can be shared by family members or significant others in the same household, but others must follow the 1 person, 1 cart rule.

  • The Meadows Country Club in Sarasota
    • The Highlands Course and The Groves course are open to public play.
    • The Meadows Course is currently closed and under construction until Nov**.

    • Their COVID-19 Emergency Management Plan is for lessening the risk of members and staff and give out guidance and support for all homeowners and members.
    • Club Access**
      • They are currently operating as a restricted access model.
      • Only registered homeowners, vendors and guests and homeowners, tenants and vendors with barcodes.
      • Non-resident members
      • Golfers with confirmed tee times are allowed in club.
    • Golf
      • Course remains open for member, guest and open daily fee play.
      • All recommended cart and golf course sanitation procedures would be followed for everyone’s safety.
    • Dining at the Park Grille**
