SWFL Featured Golf Courses: New Updates

We hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy during these uncertain times due to the COVID-19 virus. We do not know when this will end, but golf courses are providing a safe haven for us who enjoy playing the game. We have compiled a list of featured courses in the Southwest Florida area that are still open, or are open to members only, or all operations at the course are closed until further notice and what health and safety precautions they are taking for both players and employees.

  • Cape Royal
    • Operating hours: 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
    • All carts have to be in by 6pm.
    • The Caloosa Club Restaurant hours:
      • 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. for to-go or delivery.
    • It is a 27-hole course, it will be limited to 18 holes for the time being.
    • The Queen and Prince course will be free to use beginning on April 3rd and the courses will be rotated every week.
    • No shotgun starts.
    • To maintain a safe distance, all outside services, including club cleaning system and taking golf bags to carts, will be taken away.
    • Players and members cannot use their golf carts in the parking lot. After a round, the carts can be driven to their car to unload and then driven back to designate area.
    • There will be no water coolers on course, but players can call the restaurant to have food, beverages, and alcohol delivered to their location on the golf course. 239-283-5522 Ext. 2
    • Employees are wearing gloves, changing them often and keeping a safe distance from all.
    • Players can prepay over the phone before a round with a credit/debit card if they do not want to go inside the pro shop.
    • They have installed a partition at their registers to go along with spacing guidelines.
    • Pool noodles have been put at the bottom of the cups, don’t touch the flagsticks.
    • Rakes, as well as ball washers, have been taken away. If the ball lands on a footprint or club print, a player is allowed take relief in the bunker.
    • 1 person, 1 cart rule. If a player owns a cart or arrives with other players, or wish to ride with others, they may do so.

  • Coral Oaks Golf Course in Cape Coral
    • They are reopening on Thursday, April 23rd, but will do so in strict phases and guidelines. They will follow a program until it is appropriate to move from Phase II of it:
      • Modified Golf Pro Shop hours: 6:45 a.m. – 4 p.m.
      • There will be a single entry and single exit point for the shop.
      • The doors will be left open all day to avoid touching door handles.
      • Only credit cards will be accepted payments and receipts will be given to the customer only, as the cart attendants and the starters will not touch them.
      • All customers need to be 6 feet away from the counter during transaction, then the shop clerk will step back when the customer runs their card.
      • At the golf shop counter, there will be sneeze guards in place.
      • Four customers will be allowed in the shop at a time and others will be asked to stay outside, at 6 feet apart.
      • The paid golfers will be called out to cart attendant/starter by golf shop employees
      • The last 9-hole tee time will be at: 4:30 p.m.
      • The last 18-hole tee time will be at: 3:30 p.m.
    • Guidelines for play:
      • Arrive at the course 30 minutes before tee time, no earlier than this time.
      • Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & Friday: On these days, Straight Tee Times will begin at 7:30 a.m. on the #1 tee every 12 minutes.
      • Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & Friday – Walking: On these days, 9-hole walking will be permitted off the back nine only, beginning at 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. or after 2:00 p.m. No carts are available for 9-hole play until after 2:00 p.m.
      • Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday: On these days, AM Tee Times will be in 12-minute intervals off the #1 & #10 tees from 7:30-9:06 a.m.
      • Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday – PM Tee Times will be in 12-minute intervals beginning daily at 11:45 a.m. off the #1 tee.
      • Wednesday & Thursday – Walking: On these days, 9-hole walking will be permitted from 7:00-7:20 a.m. in 10-minute intervals off the #1 & #10 tees; No carts are available for 9-hole play until after 2:00 p.m.
      • Walking 18 Holes: Players can walk 18 holes after 2:00 p.m. daily
    • All play will be single rider cart, including immediate family – No exceptions unless younger than 16 years old;
    • All carts must be off the golf course by 7:30 p.m. (NO exceptions);
    • All pass holders with their own personal carts will be required to use their personal cart.
    • Cart attendant staff will not be allowed to touch or carry any customer’s golf bag or equipment.
    • All golf carts will be sanitized and wiped down before they go on course;
    • All sand buckets will be removed from golf carts and the course;
    • All cups will be raised 2 inches above the ground.
    • Players are not allowed to touch flag sticks on the course.
    • All water coolers have been removed from the golf course.
    • No rakes in the bunkers. Players play preferred lies.
    • Golf course maintenance staff will rake Monday through Friday.
    • Knickers Pub:
      • The inside of Knickers Pub and Clubhouse will remain closed.
      • Carry-out window will be open from 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
      • Limited Beverage Cart / Roll Bar Service will be provided.
      • The driving range will remain closed; No range balls will be sold or baskets used.
      • The chipping green and practice putting green will be open with raised cups, but no flagsticks.
      • Players cannot bring alcoholic beverages on property.
      • No personal coolers will be allowed on property.
      • If any player/customer/staff member shows any signs of illness they will be asked to leave the premises.
  • Groups of 10 or less are allowed to congregate on property, but will be monitored.
  • Coral Oaks will be extending all golf passes that were active as of March 24, 2020. The extension will be added to your current pass for the amount of time the golf course is closed. Passes that have expired during that time frame will be provided an extension from March 24 until the date the pass expired.
  • Spring Season Rates (April 1-30):
    • $48 before 12PM
    • $43 after 12PM
    • $33 Twilight after 2PM
    • $25 Twilight after 4PM

  • Summer Season Rates (May 1-Sept.30):

  • Eagle Lakes Golf Club
    • Effective on March 21st going forward:
      • Pro shop hours: 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
      • Restaurant: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
      • Bar: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
    • Tee times are available from 7:20 a.m. – 3:04 p.m., with the last tee time available at 3:04pm and cart return will be at 6 p.m.
    • Rates: $69 plus tax and an additional $2.50 gratuity for outside staff
    • Limited availability w/ single carts going out
    • Remain 6 feet away from any person at all time to abide by social distancing practices

  • Fort Myers Country Club in Fort Myers
  • Hibiscus Golf Club in Naples
    • Golf Club and Practice Facilities reopening on May 1st
    • Operating hours: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    • Green fee payments and other fees need to be made over the phone before playing.
    • The pro shop will remain locked, but it can be arranged for customers to purchase merchandise.
    • The driving range balls will be available directly from the dispenser with the use of a credit card.
    • They will be enforcing all safety measures to protect all players and staff members from the COVID-19 virus.

  • Magnolia Landing Golf & Country Club in North Fort Myers
    • Operating hours: 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
    • They are constantly updating their health protocols.
    • Bag drop options:
      • Players can pull up to the bag stand, remain in their cars, and open up the trunk for a staff member to put their bag on the golf cart.
      • Players can put their bag onto the bag stand and a staff member will put their bag on the cart while the golfer parks.
      • Players can put their own bags onto the cart
    • 1 person, 1 cart rule. No exceptions. Members with private carts and spouses have to ride in separate carts, until more information is provided.
    • All golf carts will be cleaned after each use.
    • Touch points are being cleaned more regularly.
    • Club cleaning is provided only when requested and keeping a safe distance.
    • All rakes have been taken off the bunkers.
    • Cup liners have been raised off the ground, so as to avoid touching the flag stick or putting any hands in the cup.
    • Individually packaged sanitizing wipes have been placed in multiple locations.
    • Staff members will stay home if they are feeling under the weather.
    • They are discouraging the use of cash.
    • All water cups are individually wrapped.
    • Their restaurant is open for delivery and take-out only.

  • Quail Village Golf Club in Naples
    • They have remained open during the 30-day stay at home order, but will be transitioning to their summer hours starting on May 1st.
    • It will be Resident or Member play only until further notice.The Pro Shop will have reduced hours and summer rates will start on May 1st and the course will be closed on Mondays.
    • 1 person, 1 cart rule, with the exception of couples who live together.
    • There will be 16 minute tee time intervals so as to avoid large groups congregating on either the practice area or near the first tee.
    • There will be no shotgun starts.
    • All rakes have been removed from the course and foam “stoppers” have been placed in the cups so the balls will only go down 1 inch. All ball washers have been covered up as well.
    • Outside operations employees are disinfecting each cart before and after each use, especially all touch points and retaining the Member’s bags on the carts.
    • Employees have been given safety gloves and masks to wear as part of their uniform.
    • Employees who don’t feel comfortable operating of what is expected at a private club will be transferred to a position that is less customer-interactive for a temporary time and not have them exposed.

  • Quail Run in Naples
    • Normal operating hours: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    • Their golf rates have been reduced, but players must call the Pro Shop to inquire about them and can reserve them at: (239)-261-3939 Ext.1
    • Instituted new rates (sales tax not included in pricing)
      • 18 holes: golf w/ cart
        • 10am-12pm $79.00
        • After 12pm $69.00
      • 18 holes: golf and walk
        • 10am-12pm: $60.00
        • After 12pm: $50.00
      • 9 holes after 2pm
        • $35.00 w/ cart
        • $30 and walk
    • The dining room is currently closed, but will have limited menu from Beverage Cart.
    • Members and guests who do not have club storage will have to load their own golf carts, as bag drop and cleaning of the clubs will be postponed for the time being.
    • Staff will disinfect the carts, but members and guests are encouraged to sanitize any touch points on them if they would like.
    • Only 10 people, including staff, will be allowed in Pro Shop at a time.
    • Credit/debit only, customer will need  to put card in machine themselves.
    • Players are encouraged to bring own water on course, as all machines will be discontinued until further notice and straws and cups will not be available for the time being.
    • Cup will be raised 1-2in. above ground, so as to avoid touching the flagsticks.
    • Rakes have been taken off the course.
    • 1 person, 1 cart rule, but walking is allowed at anytime for anyone.
  • San Carlos Golf Club
    • Operating hours: 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.
    • Their tee times are limited for the time being.
    • They will be following social distancing guidelines at all times, as well as all CDC guidelines and the Florida Department of Health guidelines.
    • They ask that all players bring their own water bottle, as they will not provide cups, lids, or straws during this time.
    • 1 person, 1 cart rule.

  • The Club at Gateway in Fort Myers
    • Normal operating hours: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
    • They ask that all players practice social distancing on the course:
      • On the tees and greens
      • Staff members are spacing carts at least 6 feet apart at staging
      • Avoid touching flagsticks
      • All cups will have a pool noodle in it to keep ball from going in.
      • If the ball is 2 feet from hole, that is an automatic “gimmie.”
    • Carryout and delivery only at restaurant by Chef Dan
      • Only on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday
      • Delivery in the gates available
      • Place order by 5 p.m.
  • Valencia Golf and Country Club in Naples

  • Courses closed until further notice
